Dimapur Police Arrest Man for Job Scam and Impersonation

On September 5, the Dimapur East Police Station in Nagaland arrested a 62‑year‑old man, Tarun Lachmandas Ramnani, in connection with a case registered under Sections 318(4), 319(2) and 351(2) of the BNS. The arrest was carried out by the Dimapur East Police under the direction of the DCP (Crime) and the PRO.

Ramnani allegedly posed as the District President of the Dimapur East Nagaland Anti‑Corruption organisation and promised to secure employment for a job seeker in Luxembourg. On January 15, 2026, he collected Rs 1.5 lakh from the victim, claiming it was required for processing the job. He later issued a fraudulent certificate in the name of Mama Shelter Luxembourg and demanded an additional Rs 1 lakh to finalise the employment.

During the arrest, police recovered an identification card purporting to be issued by the Central Bureau of Intelligence, on which Ramnani had presented himself as the Nagaland State director of the agency. The accused is now booked for cheating, cheating by impersonation and criminal intimidation.

Dimapur police urge anyone who believes they have been defrauded or who has information about Ramnani to report to the Dimapur East Police Station at 7085055020.
