Namsai Police Arrest Drug Peddler with 82g Heroin

NAMSAI, 5 Aug – Namsai district police arrested Osina Chautang, a resident of Solungtoo village, and seized 82 grams of suspected heroin, valued at approximately Rs 16.40 lakh, on Wednesday.

Acting on credible information, a police team led by Namsai SDPO Kengo Dirchi conducted a search operation at Chautang’s residence. During the search, the police recovered the 82‑gram quantity of suspected heroin.

Chautang was arrested in accordance with the law, and a case has been registered at the Namsai police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had procured the suspected heroin from outside the district for further distribution. The disclosure is being verified as part of the ongoing investigation, which aims to ascertain the source of procurement, identify forward and backward linkages, and dismantle the wider drug‑trafficking network operating in the region. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Namsai SP Sangey Thinley.
