The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has strongly criticized the 100-day tenure of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government, calling it a period of complete failure. The party has demanded a white paper from the state government, citing financial irregularities and the deplorable condition of education and healthcare sectors.

APCC media department chairman Bedabrat Bora and former MLA Binanda Saikia addressed mediapersons in Guwahati, presenting a fact-based charge-sheet detailing the government’s failures during its 100-day period. Bora alleged that while the chief minister and BJP leaders have been promoting their achievements on social media, the ground reality of the state remains alarming.

According to Bora, over 103 people lost their lives in floods in Upper Assam over the past 100 days, and 100 new roads in Guwahati witnessed artificial flooding, resulting in one death. The state government also borrowed a loan of Rs 6,750 crore between May 12 and August 18, and government grants to Gauhati University have been slashed by Rs 38.76 crore over the last seven years.

The APCC has also expressed concern over the condition of the education sector, with the number of school dropouts surpassing 1.5 lakh under the incumbent government, and close to 10,000 government schools being shut down. Former MLA Saikia alleged that the government is deliberately dismantling state-run education to benefit private educational institutions owned by its close associates.

Regarding the healthcare sector, Saikia alleged that medical colleges lack faculty, specialists, and essential infrastructure, while rural health sub-centres are in ruins. Mini primary health centres and state dispensaries operate without doctors and basic amenities, and the condition of block PHCs, PHCs, and CHCs has degraded severely.
