A recent study conducted by Nagaland University, in collaboration with international institutions, has made significant contributions to the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance. The study proposes a comprehensive framework that integrates AI systems with ethical decision-making, transparency, environmental sustainability, and organisational resilience in AI-digital platforms.

The research suggests that AI is not just a regulatory tool, but a mechanism that enhances stakeholder trust by building an integrated AI system that prioritizes environmental sustainability and long-term organizational performance. As AI continues to transform decision-making in various areas, including environmental management and sustainability, concerns related to transparency, accountability, fairness, and public trust have become increasingly important.

The study presents an integrated framework that connects AI governance, organisational resilience, ethical decision-making, and environmental sustainability in a single model. This framework was developed using a mixed-methods approach involving 185 managers, sustainability officers, governance experts, and AI specialists from organisations using AI-enabled environmental and digital platform systems.

The findings of the study were published in NE Sciences, an interdisciplinary research domain that integrates natural sciences and engineering to develop innovative solutions for real-world scientific and technological challenges. The research was co-authored by an international team of experts from various institutions, including Southeast University, Dhaka, Bangladesh; Central University of Tamil Nadu; Rostov State University of Economics, Russia; and SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu.

According to Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University, this research highlights the importance of developing governance mechanisms that promote social responsibility and environmental stewardship while enhancing organisational effectiveness. The study aims to benefit policymakers, industrial leaders, and researchers by providing a practical framework for designing responsible AI strategies that promote sustainable development, strengthen stakeholder trust, and support ethical decision-making in AI-driven organisations.

R. Vasanthan, Associate Professor at Nagaland University, emphasized that AI has great potential in transforming organisations, but it requires a strategic approach that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and public interest while ensuring ethical decision-making.
