A 22-year-old man from Delhi allegedly took his own life by jumping into a canal in Faridabad, after being jilted in love. The incident occurred on Thursday, with the police being informed on Friday. According to the police, the man had called his father before taking the extreme step, stating that his girlfriend of seven years had betrayed him.
The deceased’s father alleged that his son had seen intimate messages between his girlfriend and another man on her mobile phone, which left him deeply distressed. The father further accused the woman of mentally harassing his son and filed a complaint at Palla police station, demanding action. The police have confirmed that a complaint has been filed and an investigation is underway.
The deceased, a hairstylist at a salon in Sector-21C, Faridabad, had been in a relationship with the woman for about seven years. The couple had been having disputes for some time, and on the day of the incident, they had gone to watch a movie together. However, a dispute arose between them in the evening, after the deceased saw chats with another man on his girlfriend’s mobile phone.
The deceased’s father stated that his son had called him around 7:30 pm, sobbing uncontrollably and saying that the girl he loved had betrayed him. Despite the father’s attempts to reason with him, the son was inconsolable. The father then lost contact with his son, and later found out that his body had been recovered from the canal.
The police have confirmed that the body of the deceased was recovered around 9:30 pm, and after the post-mortem, it was handed over to the family on Friday. The Palla Station House Officer, Satya Prakash, stated that the matter is being investigated, and further action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
