A 10-year-old girl student was allegedly sexually assaulted by the headmaster of her school in Nanded city, Maharashtra, on Friday. The incident occurred within the school premises, according to officials. The assault was interrupted when the minor victim raised an alarm, alerting others to the situation.
Following this, the victim’s parents approached the police and lodged a complaint against the school headmaster. The police have booked the headmaster under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. This move reflects the severity of the crime and the need for swift action.
Police inspector Santosh Tambe confirmed that the headmaster was immediately detained in light of the gravity of the crime. The police are currently conducting further investigation into the case.
