A 57-year-old heart patient who was allegedly raped during a diagnostic test at Civil Hospital in Panipat, Haryana, has died two days after the incident. The patient, who was terminally ill, passed away at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak on Tuesday. According to the victim’s husband, the patient was left distraught after the sexual assault.
He stated that his wife was taken to Panipat Civil Hospital on August 16 after complaining of uneasiness, and it was there that the assault took place. The husband emphasized that the assault had a significant impact on his wife’s already fragile health, given her terminal illness and medical condition. The alleged rape occurred when the patient was taken for a CT scan as part of her diagnosis.
The operator, identified as Rakesh, allegedly took advantage of the situation and assaulted the patient. He also threatened her not to disclose the incident to her family. After regaining consciousness, the patient informed her husband about the ordeal, leading to the registration of a case at Panipat City police station on charges of rape and criminal intimidation.
