NPF demands justice for alleged killings of six Nagas in Manipur

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has called for immediate and expedited justice in the alleged killings of six Nagas in Manipur, warning that failure to take action could erode public faith in the government and the administration of law and justice. This demand comes after an NPF delegation visited Makhan village on August 10 and met with displaced Naga families who have taken shelter there. The delegation, led by NPF vice president and in-charge of the Manipur State Unit Vipopal Kintso, included vice presidents Kekongchim Yimkhiung and Angyie Konyak.

During their visit, they found that over 200 people, including the wives and children of the six Nagas who were allegedly killed by Kukis, are currently sheltered at the village. According to the NPF, more than three months have passed since the incident, yet despite submitting the names of persons allegedly involved in the abduction to law-enforcement agencies, no tangible action has been taken to bring the perpetrators to justice. The party expressed anguish over the accounts of the victims and their plight, and condemned the alleged killings and mutilation of the bodies.

The NPF also appealed to the Manipur Government to extend relief and rehabilitation to all people affected by the ongoing unrest in the State in a judicious manner, without fear or favour. Furthermore, the party appealed to the Government of India to show empathy towards the people of Manipur and intervene to restore peace and harmony in the State.
