A 25-year-old man suffered serious injuries after a banned Chinese ‘manjha’ kite string got entangled around his neck in Faridabad on Sunday, according to police. The incident occurred while the victim, Pankaj Kumar, was riding his motorcycle in the area. Kumar, a resident of the Palla Power House area, sustained an approximately 11-centimetre deep wound on his neck and a 5-centimetre gash on his forehead.
The incident occurred when Kumar was on his way to visit his aunt’s house in Old Faridabad. As he approached the Old Faridabad flyover, the kite string got wrapped around his neck. Initially unaware of the string, Kumar continued riding his bike, which resulted in the deep cut.
He was later assisted by people in the vicinity who came to his aid. Kumar received first aid at the B K Hospital and was subsequently referred to an advanced medical centre in Delhi for further treatment. The incident has prompted a police investigation, with an FIR set to be registered once an official complaint is received.
