The Assam Christian Forum (ACF) has expressed its approval of the central government’s decision to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment (FCRA) Bill, 2026, to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) for a thorough examination. This move is seen as a democratic and consultative step, demonstrating the government’s willingness to listen to the concerns of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), minority communities, and other civil society stakeholders.
Allen Brooks, spokesperson for the ACF, stated that the forum welcomes the opportunity for wider deliberation and looks forward to constructive engagement with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the JPC during the scrutiny of the proposed legislation. The ACF remains dedicated to contributing positively to India’s progress and is committed to serving the people of Assam and the nation through various initiatives, including education, healthcare, social development, and charitable activities.
Brooks emphasized the forum’s readiness to work in a spirit of dialogue and cooperation to help shape a balanced statutory framework that upholds natural justice while enabling genuine civil society organizations to continue their service to the nation and its citizens without hindrance. The ACF reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible engagement with the government and all stakeholders, always keeping the larger interest of the country and its people at the center.
The ACF spokesperson concluded by expressing his hope that the JPC’s deliberations will be guided by wisdom, fairness, and the common good.
