Tura: A joint awareness program was organized by Aaranyak, Assam Forest Department, and Meghalaya Forest Department’s Wildlife Protection Range at Naguapara in West Garo Hills, along the Assam-Meghalaya border, to sensitize the local communities about the importance of conservation of the elephant corridor. The program was attended by local villagers from Naguapara, Khasiapara, Ganarugre, Kalapara, Mauriapara, Besorkona, Joyramkuchi, Medhipara Part-II, Kasubari, and other nearby villages. The event aimed to educate the communities about the need to protect the elephant corridor and the importance of coexisting with wildlife.
Forest Department officials emphasized the need for the local communities to cooperate with the department in protecting the elephant corridor. They also highlighted the importance of preserving the natural habitats of the elephants and other wildlife species. The program was attended by officials from Lakhipur Forest Range, Aaranyak, and ECN, who interacted with the local communities and emphasized the need for conservation of the elephant corridor.
Aaranyak member Anjan Baruaha spoke about the importance of protecting the elephant corridor and the need for the local communities to cooperate with the department. Lakhipur Range Officer Moupran Gayan, Forester Dhon Ch Doloi, West Garo Hills Wildlife Protection Range officer Oshim Sangma, and other officials also addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for conservation of the elephant corridor.
