Six candidates who took the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) have approached the Supreme Court, alleging discrepancies between their original answers and the copies of their OMR sheets provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The candidates, who claim to have scored over 600 and 650 marks, assert that the OMR sheets uploaded by the NTA do not match the answers they marked during the examination. Their lawyer mentioned the plea before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, requesting an early hearing before the commencement of the counselling process.
According to the lawyer, the students had reached out to the NTA via email and in person, but received no response. The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, agreed to list the matter for hearing.
This development comes after the NEET-UG 2026 exam was re-conducted on June 21, following a paper leak that led to the cancellation of the original exam held on May 3. Submitting fake OMR sheets for scrutiny will invite legal action, says NTA.
