A disturbing incident has come to light in the postmortem room of the district hospital in Barwani, Madhya Pradesh, where ants were allegedly found crawling on the body of a 58-year-old woman, Radhabai Dodwe, on Monday. Radhabai Dodwe had sustained serious injuries in a road accident and died during treatment at the district hospital on the night of August 2. Her body was kept in the postmortem room for examination.
However, the hospital’s handling of the body has raised concerns among her relatives, who claim that the body was not stored properly. According to Radhabai’s relative, Vishnu Bande, when the family saw the body before autopsy, they were shocked to find ants crawling on her face, nose, ears, and mouth. Bande alleged that the hospital had left the body outside overnight, despite having freezer facilities available in the mortuary.
The incident has sparked outrage among the family members, who have accused the hospital of negligence. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Jaipal Singh Thakur has acknowledged the incident and assured that necessary action will be taken after discussing the matter with the Civil Surgeon.
