A tragic incident has unfolded in the Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district, where a couple and their 19-year-old daughter allegedly took their own lives. According to a police official, the family succumbed to financial stress, which is believed to be the reason behind their extreme step.
The deceased have been identified as Vinod Pillai, 50, his wife Srija Pillai, 45, and their daughter Purnima Pillai, 19. The family, originally from Kerala, had been living in Pimpri for the past three years. Vinod Pillai died on Saturday, while his wife and daughter were pronounced dead by doctors on Sunday.
The incident came to light when Srija Pillai, a school coordinator in Morwadi, failed to report to work and did not respond to calls from her colleagues. Her colleagues then contacted her relatives, who also tried to reach her but were unsuccessful. Some relatives living nearby visited the Pillai household and found the door open, only to discover the three family members lying unconscious inside.
The police were immediately alerted, and the trio was rushed to a hospital. Unfortunately, Vinod Pillai died on Saturday, while Srija and Purnima Pillai passed away on Sunday. A suicide note was recovered from the scene, which cited financial stress as the reason for their actions and requested that no one be blamed for their decision.
The police are currently investigating the case further to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
