The Guwahati-based UIDAI Regional Office (RO) is conducting mandatory biometric update (MBU) camps at schools across the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) in coordination with the Arunachal Pradesh Economics and Statistics Department and CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd.
These camps aim to cover students who have not yet completed their MBU in Aadhaar. The initiative has already been implemented at PM SHRI Government Higher Secondary School Arunodaya and Indira Academy, with Holy Cross School hosting the camp from 31 July to 1 August. Upcoming camps are scheduled for Nichiphu Children’s Foundation School on 3 August and Vivekananda Central School on 5 August.
According to UIDAI guidelines, MBU is required twice during a child’s lifetime – once at the age of 5 years and again at 15 years. Timely biometric updates are crucial to avoid Aadhaar suspension and ensure uninterrupted access to services requiring Aadhaar authentication.
Updated biometrics in Aadhaar enable seamless access to essential services, including school admissions, entrance examination registrations, scholarships, and direct benefit transfer schemes. The UIDAI RO informed that such school-level camps will be conducted across all districts of Arunachal.
The initiative aims to facilitate the MBU process for students, ensuring they can access various services without any disruptions.
