Meghalaya Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) BDR Tiwari has announced that the state’s electoral roll has achieved a 99.62 percent match with the enumeration forms collected during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
The enumeration forms were collected by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from June 30 to July 29, and the matching process was completed by July 28.
According to the CEO, a total of 23,49,645 electors were enumerated, and 23,40,764 enumeration forms were collected and matched, with 22,78,071 forms digitized, achieving a 96.95 percent digitization rate.
The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, and the CEO has assured that the final electoral roll will be ready after digitizing the remaining enumeration forms.
The CEO also informed that political parties have been involved in the revision process, and 1600 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have been deployed to assist the election officials.
Tiwari stated that the SIR exercise has been successful in removing duplicate and dead voters from the electoral roll, with 2,24,435 voters identified as Absentee, Shifted, Dead & Duplicate (ASDD).
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has commended the efforts of the District Election Officers (DEO), Electoral Registration Officers (ERO), and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AERO) in conducting the SIR exercise.
The CEO expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the SIR exercise and thanked the political parties for their cooperation.
