NEET UG-2026 aspirant alleges OMR-sheet mix-up

A student from Karnataka’s Haveri district has alleged a mix-up in her OMR sheet for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate exam, resulting in her score being shown as -11 instead of the expected 663 marks. Bindhushree J. Pawar, a NEET UG-2026 aspirant from Hangal, claims that according to the answer key released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 21, she should have scored 663 marks.

However, when the results were announced on July 16, she was shocked to find that her score was shown as -11. Bindhushree has pointed out discrepancies in her OMR sheet, including the blackening of circles to mark answers, which does not resemble her style. She also claims that although the OMR sheet sent by the NTA has her name, roll number, and signature, some mix-up might have occurred, as she had attempted 165 questions, while the OMR sheet sent to her had only 41 entries.

Additionally, she has questioned the fingerprint on the OMR sheet, alleging that it appears to have been tampered with, as it has a second overlapping thumb impression. Bindhushree has sent a mail to the NTA on July 22 requesting her original OMR sheet, which she claims should have fetched her 663 marks. However, she has not received any reply, and calls by her teachers to the NTA helpline have gone unanswered.

Her father, Jagadish Pawar, has urged the NTA to send her original OMR sheet and provide justice, citing that Bindhushree had consistently performed well in practice tests during her two years of coaching. The Haveri district administration has also forwarded Bindhushree’s grievance to the NTA.
