Minister Kento Jini Inspects Landslide-Prone Road

State Joint Education and Tribal Affairs Minister Kento Jini conducted an inspection of landslide-prone areas and road blockage points along the Akajan-Likabali-Bame road on Thursday. The purpose of the visit was to assess the condition of the affected stretches and review the ongoing restoration works.

During the inspection, Minister Jini was accompanied by heads of departments and officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). They examined the extent of damages caused by landslides and heavy rains, which have been affecting the region. The minister took the opportunity to appreciate Henli Riba and his team for their dedicated efforts in clearing road blockages and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity over the past several months despite challenging conditions.

Minister Jini announced that emergency ‘disaster maintenance packages’ would be made available to support the restoration and maintenance of the road. This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to the affected areas and facilitate smoother connectivity.

Furthermore, Minister Jini assured that he would take up the matter with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Pema Khandu to expedite the implementation of the Bame-Akajan road as a strategic road project. The central government has declared the project as a strategic road initiative, considering its vital importance for regional connectivity and public welfare.
