Chief Minister Pema Khandu has commended the Indian Army for conducting ‘Shaurya Sambandh’, an outreach programme for veterans in the remote Tuting area of Upper Siang district, which borders China. The programme, organised by the Spear Corps on 23 July, aimed to provide veterans living in remote locations with direct access to welfare resources. During the outreach drive, Army personnel assisted participants in accessing pension-related entitlements, healthcare facilities, financial assistance, resettlement opportunities, and state and central welfare schemes.
Additionally, grievance redressal sessions were conducted to address administrative concerns and facilitate quick resolution through appropriate authorities. The Chief Minister took to social media to express his appreciation for the initiative, stating that a nation’s strength is measured by its sustained support for personnel following their active military service. He highlighted the importance of reaching out to ex-servicemen, veer naris, and veer matas in geographically isolated border zones, and praised the Indian Army’s effort in reaffirming that service to the nation is never forgotten.
Khandu described the drive as a thoughtful initiative that reinforces trust, upholds dignity, and ensures border defenders continue to receive essential care and support.
