Meghalaya Chief Minister and National President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Conrad K Sangma, has inaugurated the party’s newly constructed state office in Manipur. The inauguration took place on Friday, during Sangma’s two-day visit to the state, and was attended by state unit president Dr Lorho S Pfoze, Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh, NPP MLAs, party office-bearers, and party workers. The new office, located at Mercy Lane, Mantripukhri, is expected to strengthen the party’s organisational network and grassroots activities in the state.
Sangma expressed satisfaction over the completion of the new office and thanked the Manipur unit for ensuring its timely construction. The inauguration comes ahead of the NPP Annual Convention, which is scheduled to be held on Saturday at the MSFDS complex in Imphal. During his visit, Sangma aims to review the party’s organisational activities and meet party leaders, legislators, and frontal organisations.
He will also interact with people across the state to express solidarity and understand their concerns, which will help identify ways to improve the prevailing situation in Manipur. Sangma also addressed the recent examination paper leak that has triggered protests by students and youth in New Delhi and other parts of the country. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and ensure accountability.
Regarding the Opposition’s demand for the resignation of the Union Education Minister, Sangma stated that any decision should be based on the findings of a fair and comprehensive investigation, with appropriate action taken against those found guilty.
