Manipur: Naga Tribes Declare Non-Cooperation Against ZUF(J)

The Joint Tribes Council (JTCM) and the councils of four Naga tribes - Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme - have declared a non-cooperation movement against the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF-J) in response to its recent attack on the Naga Village Guard (NVG) at Bitiang village in Noney district.

The decision was made during an emergency meeting of all four tribes’ communities, organised by the Working Committee, Joint Tribes Council Manipur, on Thursday. The meeting was called to address the ‘anti-brotherhood action’ by the ZUF-J, which the JTCM described as a betrayal of the trust placed in them by the Naga communities.

According to the JTCM, the ZUF-J attacked the Naga Village Guard (NVG) on Wednesday, July 22, at Bitiang village under Noney district around 7:20 am. The NVG has been guarding and protecting the ancestral territories of the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme communities against external intruders and encroachers.

The JTCM strongly condemned the attack, stating that it constitutes a direct assault upon the security and sovereignty of the four tribes. The council also alleged that the ZUF-J has been operating in collusion with outsider and the Narco terrorist cannibal Kuki forces, who have relentlessly harassed, murdered, and encroached upon the Naga communities’ territory.

After extensive deliberation, the JTCM resolved to declare non-cooperation - political, social, or logistical - against the ZUF-J from the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme communities. The council also warned that any act of intimidation will be met with zero tolerance and will invite strict, united consequences from all four tribes’ community members.

The JTCM reaffirmed their support and cooperation to any group or organisation from Naga communities that steps forward to defend the territorial integrity and safeguard the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme communities’ people. The council also called upon all community members to remain vigilant and united in enforcing the decision.

The JTCM urged all right-thinking organisations and individuals to respect this decision and to stand with the Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei, and Zeme communities in this hour of collective resolve.
