Tarh Tarang, Hiya village HGB, passes away

Tarh Tarang, head gaon bura (HGB) of Hiya village in Kurung Kumey district, passed away at the age of 90 years on 18 July. Tarang had been serving as the Hiya village HGB since 1969. He is survived by two sons – Tarh Tabin, president of the Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), and Tarh Kamey.

Tarang was socially active and his role in dispute resolutions in the village as gaon burah was widely acknowledged. The AITF expressed profound grief over Tarang’s demise and offered prayers for the departed soul. “While no words can truly ease the pain of such a profound loss, we hope this brings some comfort to the family.

In this hour of grief, the entire members of AITF and apex federating CBOs of the state stand in solidarity with you and your family,” AITF general secretary Tapi Tai said in a condolence message to Tabin. Tapi, on behalf of AITF members and its apex federating community-based organisations, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength to bear the loss.
