In a gesture of goodwill and commitment to the socioeconomic development of border communities, the Indian Army handed over computer sets and traditional dance costumes to various schools and NGOs in Tawang on Saturday. The event, held under Operation Sadbhavana, was attended by several dignitaries, including Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo, Tawang Brigade Commander Brigadier Bhupal Singh, and senior officers of the Indian Army and the civil administration. General Officer Commanding of the 5 Mountain Division, Maj Gen Amit Nautiyal, led the proceedings, handing over the computer sets and traditional dance costumes to the beneficiaries.
Maj Gen Nautiyal emphasized the Army’s commitment to promoting education, cultural preservation, and community welfare in border communities. He also interacted with NCC cadets, monks, and gaon buras, acknowledging their contributions to nation-building and the strengthening of ties between the armed forces and the local community. The distribution of computer sets is expected to enhance digital learning opportunities for students in the region, while the traditional dance costumes will support schools and cultural groups in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Monpa community.
The event marked a notable initiative by the Indian Army to strengthen its bond with the local community and contribute to the development of the region.
