The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has immense potential to support Tawang district across various sectors, according to Tawang Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo.
Addressing the 45th foundation day celebration of NABARD in Tawang on Friday, DC Angmo urged all departments and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to leverage the bank’s expertise, technical guidance, and financial assistance for developmental initiatives. She encouraged departments to engage closely with NABARD and make optimum use of its programmes and resources for sustainable and inclusive development.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rinchin Leta acknowledged NABARD’s significant contribution towards strengthening rural livelihoods and community empowerment. NABARD District Development Manager for Tawang Keertika Kashyap provided an overview of the bank’s 45-year journey and highlighted its transformative interventions in agriculture, rural infrastructure, financial inclusion, skill development, and livelihood promotion across the country.
During an interactive session, representatives from various government departments provided feedback and discussed potential areas where NABARD’s support could further accelerate the socioeconomic development of Tawang district. The discussions focused on strengthening agriculture and allied sectors, promoting entrepreneurship, empowering SHGs, enhancing rural infrastructure, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
As part of the nationwide ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, star anise saplings were distributed to SHG members during the event.
