IndiGo is set to shift its flight operations to the newly built Terminal 2 at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, effective July 20. According to airport officials, the transition will take place at 12:01 a.m. on July 20, after which all IndiGo flights operating from Guwahati will use the new integrated terminal for check-in, security clearance, boarding, and arrivals.
The move marks a significant step in the phased operationalization of the new terminal, designed to enhance passenger convenience, improve operational efficiency, and cater to the rapidly growing air traffic in the Northeast. The terminal’s bamboo-inspired architectural theme showcases Assam’s cultural heritage while incorporating modern infrastructure and sustainable building practices, earning international recognition for its design.
Airport authorities have advised passengers traveling on IndiGo flights from July 20 onwards to report directly to Terminal 2 instead of the existing terminal. To ensure a smooth transition, additional staff have been deployed, prominent wayfinding signage has been installed, and passenger information systems have been strengthened across the premises.
Passengers have been advised to verify their flight details with the airline before leaving for the airport and to arrive well in advance of the scheduled departure time to complete check-in and security procedures without inconvenience. The transition is expected to significantly increase passenger movement through the new terminal and further strengthen Guwahati Airport’s role as the primary aviation gateway to the Northeastern states.
The migration reflects the airport’s continued focus on expanding capacity, improving connectivity, and delivering an enhanced travel experience for passengers. With IndiGo being the country’s largest domestic carrier, the shift is expected to have a positive impact on the airport’s operations and passenger traffic.
