Tetso College Welcomes Freshers at Salvete 2026

Tetso College welcomed 766 students from Nagaland and across the country during its SALVETE Freshers Day 2026 held at the college amphitheatre on July 15. The event began with the inauguration of a mini exhibition of Naga artefacts, a collaborative initiative between the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, and Tetso College. The exhibition was inaugurated by Director of Art & Culture, Adela Moa, who attended as the special guest.

The artefacts have also been digitised and made accessible through NEIIPA’s online archive. Principal Dr. Hewasa L. Khing welcomed the new students and highlighted the college’s achievement of being ranked 198th among India’s top Bachelor of Arts colleges in the India Today-MDRA 2026 rankings.

She encouraged the freshers to make the most of the opportunities available at the institution. Speaking on behalf of the new students, Imsubenla Longchar shared her excitement and gratitude, while Tetso Students’ Council president Kuzuvelu Venyo encouraged the freshers to actively participate in campus life. In her address, Adela Moa lauded Tetso College’s innovative approach to education and stressed the importance of preserving cultural heritage while adapting to a changing world.

She also highlighted the ongoing collaboration between the Department of Art & Culture and the college. The programme featured cultural performances, musical presentations and the Mr. and Miss Fresher contest. Tongpangkokba Jamir (Psychology) and Tarenjungla Longkumer (Mass Communication) were crowned Mr. and Miss Fresher 2026, respectively.

The event concluded with entertainment programmes and the announcement of other title winners.
