The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) held its 153th monthly sitting in Itanagar on Sunday, featuring a diverse range of literary works. The event showcased the talents of local writers and poets, with recitations of self-composed poems, short stories, articles, and translated poems.
Several poets took to the stage to recite their original works, including Dr Bompi Riba, Dr Moge Basar, Takhe Yasa, Takhe Yebyang, Yagyaj, and Tarh Susana. Their poems were presented in both English and Hindi, highlighting the linguistic diversity of the region. Additionally, Inumoni Das Thongchi recited a translated poem by Dr Doyir Ete Taipodia, titled ‘Lost Word’, which had been translated into Assamese.
The event also featured a short story reading by Yagyaj, who presented a thought-provoking tale titled ‘The Prize of the Faith’. The story explored the complex issues surrounding religious conversion in India, sparking a lively discussion among the attendees.
Wango Socia’s article, ‘The Preservation of Literature’, was also a key highlight of the event. Socia emphasized the importance of preserving language and culture, highlighting the need for concerted efforts to protect and promote the region’s rich literary heritage.
