Two separate road accidents in Bengaluru on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two people, both of whom were riding two‑wheelers without helmets.
The first incident occurred around 6.30 a.m. on the Silk Board double‑decker flyover within the Madiwala Traffic Police Station limits. Namay Sharma, a private‑firm employee from Delhi who lived in Iblur, was riding his motorcycle when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The motorcycle struck the retaining wall, and because Sharma was not wearing a helmet he suffered severe head injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. A case has been registered at the Madiwala Traffic Police Station.
The second accident took place near the Marathahalli‑Sarjapur Outer Ring Road, within the HAL Airport Traffic Police Station limits, where a 30‑year‑old cook, Ganga Yadav of Koramangala, and his pillion rider, also a cook named Ram Shankar Yadav, were traveling to work. While entering the main road from a service road near CKB Layout, the scooter lost control, hit the pavement and then crashed into a roadside tree, throwing both riders off. Neither wore a helmet; Ganga sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at a hospital, while Shankar is receiving treatment for serious injuries. A case has been registered at the HAL Airport Traffic Police Station.
Both incidents underscore the dangers of riding without helmets and the importance of following traffic safety measures. The police have opened cases in each location to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crashes.
