Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and the residents of Vijayawada for staging the second edition of Vijayawada Utsav, noting the city’s cultural, spiritual and economic importance.
In a letter commemorating the festival, Modi highlighted Vijayawada’s unique role in Andhra Pradesh’s economic, cultural and spiritual life, citing its rich heritage shaped by the sacred River Krishna and the revered Sri Kanaka Durga temple. He stressed that a city’s culture endures when its people remain connected to traditions and pass them on to future generations.
Describing Vijayawada Utsav as a significant initiative, the Prime Minister said the festival brings the region’s cultural heritage into everyday life and opens new avenues for local artists and entrepreneurs. He also pointed out that the event would give fresh momentum to tourism in the area.
Expressing satisfaction with the festival’s focus on skill development, Modi underscored the importance of initiatives that combine cultural preservation with economic opportunities. He added that as India moves toward a developed nation vision, cities must grow while preserving distinctive cultural identities, and that programmes like Vijayawada Utsav help achieve this by connecting communities with their heritage and supporting local talent and enterprise. He extended best wishes to everyone involved and hoped the event would further strengthen the bond between Vijayawada’s people and their rich cultural heritage.
