Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders announced on Sunday that they would continue their agitation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, claiming that the Modi government had created an “emergency‑like situation” through train cancellations, restrictions on protests and the detention of activists.
Saurav Das, a CJP spokesperson, said the government had turned the state against its own citizens and that authorities could have invited a delegation for talks instead of restricting protesters who were attempting to demonstrate at a designated site.
Das added that the activists had been illegally detained and that the government had imposed a one‑year ban on any breach of peace. He blamed Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar for causing the breach of peace and referred to the conditions imposed on the leaders’ release.
“The protests are on… Protests will happen not just in Delhi but the whole country,” Das said, signalling that the movement could spread across India.
