Guwahati, Oct 10 – Assam Royal Global University celebrated the creativity of its graduating fashion designers at the ‘Synthesis 2026 – A Graduation Design Showcase’ on the university campus. The event, held at the Royal Garden, brought together fashion, craftsmanship, cultural narratives, sustainability and contemporary design, giving students a professional platform to present their original collections.

The showcase featured 14 showstoppers and was attended by fashion professionals, designers, creative practitioners, academicians and enthusiasts. Nationally renowned designer Ms. Anju Modi served as Chief Guest, while fashion choreographer Ms. Meenu Paul coordinated the event. The graduating designers presented collections inspired by historical, cultural and futuristic themes, including ‘Magic in Mayhem’ by Emika Yona Wanning, ‘Ancient Egyptian Grandeur’ by Arya Agarwal, ‘Forbidden Love’ by Tom Ayekpam, ‘Celestial Regalia’ by Deimonlang Lapasam, ‘Me.Pilipni Bi. Ani’ by Taimong Marak and ‘Roaring 3020s, A Futuristic Twist of 1920s Glamour’ by Juhi Das.

Awards were presented by Ms. Anju Modi, Shri Hara Kanta Baro of the Ministry of Textiles, Ms. Smitakshi Baruah Goswami of Pratidin Times, Ms. Indu Singh, Ms. Arita Kashyap of Doyna Atelier, and Ms. Mridusmita Das Bora of COPO. Emika Yona Wanning won Best Graduation Project for ‘Magic in Mayhem’, Arya Agarwal received Best Commercial Collection for ‘Ancient Egyptian Grandeur’, Tom Ayekpam and Deimonlang Lapasam were honoured for Most Innovative and Constructive Collection, Taimong Marak received Best Use of Traditional Craft, and Juhi Das secured Best Concept and Research Collection.

Assistant Professor Akriti Mazumdar of RSFT explained that the showcase is “not just a runway; it is a platform for the next generation of fashion voices.” She said Synthesis 2026 was born from the belief that young designers need more than classroom learning to realise their potential. RSFT, a contemporary centre for fashion education in Northeast India, offers a four‑year B.Des. in Fashion Design that integrates design, technology, textiles, craftsmanship, sustainability and entrepreneurship, combining studio‑based learning, industry exposure and experiential projects to nurture responsible, globally conscious fashion professionals.
