The Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station ordered the release of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on Sunday, following their preventive arrest by Delhi Police. The decision was announced on the social media platform X by the party’s legal affairs head, Ratna Singh.
The three leaders had been detained on Saturday at Indira Gandhi International Airport as they arrived in the capital to protest the Election Commission of India. They were scheduled to appear before the Executive Magistrate at 9 AM, a development that Singh confirmed in an earlier X post, noting that she would attend with other advocates.
Singh denied that the CJP had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the release of its members. She clarified that a petition circulating on social media was not submitted by the party and that no habeas corpus petition had been approved by the CJP’s legal team.
CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that protesters would march toward Jantar Mantar again on Sunday, stating that they would pause only after the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
