Pointo, a lithium‑ion battery distribution and service network startup based in Kolkata, is targeting growth in the e‑auto, battery storage systems (BESS) and second‑life markets to boost its revenue.
The company, founded in 2023 by IIT Guwahati chemical engineer Riki Biswas and three co‑founders, has already raised ₹6.2 crore in seed funding led by Equirus InnovateX Fund. Pointo plans to use new capital, which it is seeking to raise between ₹70 and ₹100 crore, to build an automated, large‑scale refurbishment unit and expand its ground distribution network across India.
Revenue has risen sharply, with a run rate of ₹80 crore in FY26 up from about ₹3 crore in FY24, and the firm expects to finish the current fiscal year with ₹150 crore. Pointo serves 25,000 customers through more than 22 physical hubs in six states and is working to extend its micro‑distribution network to Tier II and Tier III towns.
The startup partners with lithium‑ion battery OEMs for co‑branding and marketing and with non‑banking financial companies to offer finance‑ready batteries to e‑rickshaw drivers and fleets. It also plans to convert end‑of‑life batteries into lower‑use products such as home inverters, creating a closed‑loop supply chain that supports the growing demand for new and second‑life batteries.
