Dimapur United Sporting Club delivered a decisive 5-0 victory over Don Bosco Sports Academy in the first semifinal of the Dimapur District Football League (DDFL) and the Late Hejeto Ayemi Memorial Trophy, held at DDSC Stadium in Dimapur on Friday. The win, highlighted by Ayen Mongba’s two goals, propels Dimapur United into the final and earns Mongba Player of the Match honors.
Mongba opened the scoring in the third minute, giving his side an early advantage, and added a second goal in the 12th minute to double the lead. Don Bosco struggled to convert opportunities from set pieces, and the academy was unable to breach Dimapur United’s disciplined backline, leaving them trailing by two goals at halftime.
The second half saw Dimapur United maintain control. Vinato scored in the 27th minute, extending the margin, while Yiben added a third in the 35th minute. Vinato completed a brace four minutes later, sealing the emphatic win. Dimapur United dominated possession (60 %) and registered 15 shots, all on target, compared with Don Bosco’s 14 shots and only four on target. The home side also earned eight corners to Don Bosco’s six.
With this comprehensive triumph, Dimapur United looks forward to the final, aiming to sustain their impressive run and compete for the title.
