A Bolero vehicle traveling on the Aizawl‑Sateek road in Mizoram crashed into a steep slope near Sateek village, killing three people and seriously injuring a fourth. The accident, which occurred on a Wednesday afternoon, involved a vehicle that veered off the road and plunged down the hillside.
Four passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including the driver. The incident took place about two kilometres from Sateek village, a location locally known as Sakei Zuanthlakna Kham. The steep terrain surrounding the site made the recovery effort particularly challenging.
The deceased were identified as Dr Engam Pame, an Indian Information Service officer serving as Additional Director General at the Press Information Bureau’s Central Bureau of Communication Regional Office in Imphal; Nampi Bou Marinmai, an IIS officer who is Director (News) at Doordarshan Aizawl; and H Lianvela, a Multi‑Tasking Staff member with the CBC Aizawl office and a resident of Chawlhhmun. All three were reportedly returning from Sialsuk, where they had been engaged in official work.
The driver, Gojendro Dey, who also works with the CBC Aizawl office, sustained serious injuries and was taken for treatment. Bodies of the three victims were recovered and are scheduled to undergo post‑mortem examinations.
