A regular bus service between Sairang, near the Mizoram capital, and Churachandpur in southern Manipur will begin on October 1, officials in Guwahati announced.
The service is expected to ease the difficulties faced by people traveling between the two neighbouring northeastern states after the ethnic strife that broke out in Manipur in 2023, according to an official source.
Two 21‑seat buses will run the 360‑kilometre route, covering the distance in about 12 hours. The journey links Sairang, roughly 22 km from Aizawl, with Churachandpur, the headquarters of a Kuki‑Zo‑majority hill district.
Improved connectivity is anticipated to strengthen bonds of brotherhood, harmony and unity among the Zo kindred tribes living across different hill areas.
The fare is fixed at Rs 2,500 per passenger, and tickets can be purchased through the VK Tawna Bus Service mobile application.
