Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) inaugurated the 12th edition of Euphoria, an event organised by the DBCK Student Forum (DBCKSF). The two‑day programme, scheduled for October 8 and 9, began with a cultural day themed “Wisdom of Ancestors, Knowledge of Tomorrow,” highlighting cultural expression, creativity and youth participation.
The special guest, SDO (C) Kohima Sadar Seyiekhrietuo Solo, urged young people to embrace technology, innovation and new ideas while remaining rooted in their heritage. He stressed the need to balance modernisation with cultural identity, noting that culture extends beyond traditional dances and festivals to include values such as respect, honesty, kindness and hospitality. Solo highlighted traditional weaving and textiles as key carriers of Naga stories and skills, calling on the youth to learn, practise, teach and document these traditions.
Solo reminded the audience that being modern does not mean becoming “less Naga,” encouraging them to take pride in their identity and to pass cultural heritage on to future generations.
In his welcome address, Principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Tious Varghese described Euphoria as a celebration of creativity, youthful spirit and cultural expression. He urged participants to join with enthusiasm, mutual respect and a spirit of togetherness. The programme featured a special performance by the DBCK Music Club, was chaired by Razouvolie Tsurho of the Sociology Department, and included prayers invoked by Senjano N Murry, a History assistant professor. The vote of thanks was delivered by Viketsonuo Kiewhuo, Social and Cultural Secretary of DBCKSF, while Kewale Wozah, an Education assistant professor, pronounced the benediction.
Following the formal programme, an informal session allowed four groups to compete in various events, giving participants the chance to showcase creativity, team spirit and active engagement in a friendly atmosphere.
