The 173 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force in Dimapur has announced a half marathon to be held on October 28 under the banner “SPANDAN – Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation,” in partnership with the Sports Authority of India. The race will start and finish at the State Agri Expo in 4th Mile, Chumoukedima, with the flag‑off scheduled for 5:30 a.m.
Participants will run in two categories: a 21‑kilometre course for men and a 5‑kilometre course for women. Entry is open to all men and women aged 18 and older. The event aims to promote fitness, sportsmanship, peace, and unity, giving especially the youth a chance to engage in healthy, positive competition.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top ten finishers in each category. First place receives Rs. 20,000, second Rs. 15,000, third Rs. 10,000, fourth and fifth Rs. 5,000 each, sixth and seventh Rs. 3,000 each, eighth Rs. 2,000, and ninth and tenth Rs. 1,000 each. The marathon carries the slogan “Run for Peace, Run for a Better Future,” highlighting sports’ role in fostering community unity and inspiring disciplined lifestyles.
The battalion invites college students, youth clubs, sportspersons, fitness enthusiasts, and the general public across Nagaland to participate.
