NITI Aayog member visits Chandel to review development projects

Dr Joram Aniya, a Member of NITI Aayog and Union Minister of State, visited Chandel district on Wednesday to review development initiatives funded by the organisation and to meet beneficiaries and officials.

At the Primary Health Centre in Komlathabi, Aniya was received by Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley and district administration officials. She inspected the health facility, which includes five‑bedded separate wards for male and female patients that were constructed under a NITI Aayog project during 2020–21.

The visit continued at the District Training Centre and Library in the district headquarters. A tree plantation programme was conducted at the training centre. The centre, along with its accommodation facilities, was built under a NITI Aayog project during 2022–23, while the library building was completed under the 2021–22 programme.

Aniya then toured the District Hospital, where she interacted with patients, doctors and medical staff and reviewed the hospital’s infrastructure. She inspected the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre, which has a dedicated ward, and the Pre‑Delivery Residential Centre for pregnant women; both were constructed under the 2021–22 programme.

In the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Aniya met District Level Officers and received a briefing on several development programmes, including the Aspirational District Programme and the Aspirational Block Programme for Chandel and Chakpikarong.

The delegation was accompanied by Salam Shyamsunder Singh, PS to Member, NITI Aayog; Samarendra Prakash Srivastava, Deputy Director General, DEMO; Rishabh Kashyap and Ngayaipam Awungshi, both Young Professionals; and local officials including the Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and directors of planning for the state government.
