India U-19 defeated Australia U-19 by an innings and 48 runs in the first Youth Test at Rajkot on Tuesday. Lakshya Raichandani scored 240, Yashbardhan Chauhan took 6 for 75, and Ishan Om claimed 4 for 62, with Mohit Ulva contributing 92 runs.
The victory follows a 3-0 sweep by India in the preceding Youth ODI series, reinforcing the Indian side’s dominance in the series of matches.
India posted 494 runs, with Raichandani’s double ton and half-centuries from Chauhan (54) and Mohit Ulva (92). Australia were bowled out for 217 and 229, with Neel Patel scoring 41 and Blake Cattle 123.
Chauhan dismantled Australia’s top order, taking the wickets of Cattle and Neel Patel, while left‑arm spinner Ishan Om removed specialist batters with his orthodox spin. Seven Australian batsmen were dismissed for single digits, leaving the visitors helpless.
The second Youth Test will take place at the same venue from 5 to 8 October.
