Kohima Police seized 7,740 bottles of Indian‑made foreign liquor (IMFL), valued at roughly Rs 50 lakh, during a routine check at Zubza Police Station on Monday.
The transport carrier was intercepted at about 2:35 p.m. as part of an intensified drive against spurious IMFL and alcohol. Police inspected the vehicle and discovered 7,740 750‑ml bottles of liquor.
The driver has been taken into custody while investigators work to trace the source of the consignment and identify the supplier, owner and intended buyer. A “BSF Duty” marking was found on the vehicle’s windshield, which police say was used to create a misleading impression and evade suspicion. That marking is being examined to determine the method used to transport the goods.
Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
