Chief Commander Amir Hatami of Iran’s Army announced on Sunday that the conflict initiated by the United States and Israel remains unresolved, warning that the adversary must stay prepared for further decisive actions from Iranian forces. He made the remarks during a national festival in Tehran, emphasizing that the war is far from over.
Hatami also urged neighboring states to recognize that alignment with the United States does not guarantee security. He stressed that regional stability should be protected internally by the countries of the region, according to reports from Xinhua News Agency.
In a separate development, the Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) cautioned ship‑owners against being compelled by certain charterers to use illegal routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The authority warned that such actions could jeopardize vessels, crews, and future passage rights, and that non‑compliant charterers would be added to a non‑compliance list, restricting all their vessels’ access to the waterway.
The backdrop to these statements is the series of escalations that began on February 28, when Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes against Israeli and U.S. targets and tightened control of the Strait of Hormuz. A memorandum of understanding signed on June 18 called for a 60‑day negotiation period to end the conflict, which ended on August 17, but the future of the talks remains uncertain amid recent tensions.
