Teacher-BLOs flag N-TET, SIR schedule overlap

Teacher‑Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across Nagaland have raised concerns about a clash between the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Nagaland Teacher Eligibility Test (N‑TET). The SIR is set to finish on 22 November 2026, while the N‑TET is scheduled for 21 November 2026, leaving BLOs with little time to prepare for the exam that is essential for their career advancement.

BLOs from several districts confirmed that they remain committed to the SIR work, which involves door‑to‑door verification, form collection, data upload, review meetings and meeting daily targets. They also continue to fulfill regular teaching duties, manage mid‑day meal records, attend departmental training and handle other school responsibilities. In remote areas, long walks, poor internet connectivity and inadequate transportation add to the workload.

A primary teacher serving as a BLO in Tuensang said the overlap was not a complaint but a request for consideration. A BLO from Kiphire, who has registered for the N‑TET, described the mental stress of working from morning until late at night, seven days a week, and noted that the SIR exercise left little time for exam preparation. A teacher‑BLO from Wokha echoed these concerns, highlighting the difficulty of balancing teaching, fieldwork and exam study when the test falls a day before the SIR deadline. A BLO from Zunheboto added that frequent travel to ERO and AERO offices, often without adequate transportation, further increased their workload.

The teachers expressed hope that, if administratively feasible, the N‑TET could be rescheduled to after the completion of the SIR exercise. They believe this change would allow them to discharge both election responsibilities and professional commitments more effectively while reducing the mental strain caused by the current schedule.
