The North Garo Hills Block‑Level Chief Minister’s Youth Engagement Programme 2026 was inaugurated in the town of Resubelpara, marking the first phase of the state‑wide initiative. The launch event was held in the Kharkutta Forest Reserve, a location chosen for its natural setting and accessibility to local youth.
The programme was attended by Kharkutta’s Member of Legislative Assembly and Chairman of the MNREDA, Rupart Momin, who highlighted the importance of youth participation in community development. Representatives from the Education and Sports Departments were also present, underscoring the collaborative nature of the effort.
During the event, Momin spoke about the programme’s objectives: to foster leadership, discipline, and civic responsibility among young people. He emphasized that the activities would include skill‑development workshops, sports competitions, and community service projects, all coordinated by the district’s Youth Engagement team.
The launch was promoted through social media platforms, with Junior Rural Development Officer Celine Sangma sharing updates and encouraging broader engagement. A resource person from the Superintendent Children’s Home (Boys) in Resubelpara, Rikcheng Sangma, also addressed the audience, stressing the role of mentorship and structured activities in nurturing youth potential.
The district‑level programme will culminate on September 30, when the North Garo Hills District Sports Officer will oversee the final event in Resubelpara, bringing together participants from across the district for a day of celebration and reflection on the programme’s impact.
