The Garo Welfare Society (GWS) has announced a street‑skit program in Tura, Garo Hills, to raise awareness about drug abuse as part of the national Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
The initiative is backed by the District Administration, the District Social Welfare Department, and the local police. A resource person will guide the program, which targets students aged 12 to 18. The skit aims to educate young people about the dangers of drugs and the importance of staying drug‑free.
Performances will take place in several key locations in Tura, including Chandmary, Bajar, Dakopgre, and PA Sangma. The program is scheduled to begin on October 2 and will run through the month, with community members invited to watch and participate.
GWS hopes the street‑skit series will reinforce the message that drug use is a threat to the community’s health and future. By engaging local youth in a creative and interactive format, the society aims to inspire a generation that rejects drugs and supports the broader Nasha Mukt Bharat objectives.
