The Palghar administration in Maharashtra has disbursed a total of Rs 30 crore in financial assistance to 15,000 residents who were affected by July floods, a local official announced on Wednesday.
Heavy rainfall between July 5 and 10 triggered flooding in the Vasai, Virar and Nalasopara areas of the district, damaging homes and commercial properties, Vasai tehsildar Deepak Gaikwad said in a release.
Joint survey teams from the revenue department and the Vasai‑Virar City Municipal Corporation identified about 19,000 applicants for aid. Of those, 15,000 individuals with complete and error‑free documentation received Rs 20,000 each. The remaining 4,000 applications were delayed because of discrepancies in bank account numbers, names or addresses.
To resolve these issues, an online rectification drive has been launched, allowing applicants to check their status by entering their name, mobile number or account details. A verification camp will be held at the Vasai tehsil office from September 21 to 25, and Gaikwad urged those whose surveys are complete to attend the camp to correct any documentation errors and receive their compensation promptly.
