CTAN seeks inclusion of all vacant posts in recruitment

The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has called for the inclusion of all 43 vacant posts in the state’s current recruitment drive, arguing that only 11 positions cleared by the P&AR Department and the Manpower Rationalisation Committee (MRC) have been advertised. The association submitted a representation to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) requesting that the remaining vacancies be added to the examination roster and that the ongoing test be suspended until the full list is covered.

CTAN’s convenor, Engineer Meshenlo Kath, criticized the September 15, 2026 government order, saying it curtails the powers of the NPSC and the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB). He noted that vacancies cannot be forwarded directly to the NPSC unless they pass through the MRC and receive Cabinet approval, a process he believes hampers timely recruitment. The association also highlighted changes to the NSSB Regulations, 2020, where a provision setting interview marks between 40 % and 80 % was removed, potentially allowing arbitrary scoring.

Beyond procedural concerns, CTAN urged the creation of a common examination body for Class III and Class IV posts and demanded that all departments, including district administrations, fall under the NSSB’s purview. The association maintains confidence in the MRC’s intent but insists it should not block the filling of existing vacancies.

CTAN has also engaged the Chief Conservator of Forests regarding 83 vacant posts, which were promised to be advertised after six months. With the deadline approaching, the association urges the department to proceed and warns that failure to act could leave aspirants dependent on national recruitment agencies such as UPSC and SSC.
