At the conclusion of the FIH World Cup held in the Netherlands and Belgium, Indian women’s hockey team goalkeeper Bichu Devi Karibam and Pakistan striker Abdul Rehman were announced as winners of the Poligras Magic Skill Awards.
The awards were decided by fan votes, with supporters selecting the moments that best captured the magic of hockey. The awards were presented by FIH Global Supplier Polytan.
The shortlist for the Poligras Magic Skill Award highlighted six standout flashes of brilliance – three women and three men – that occurred during the tournament. In the women’s category, Bichu Devi won the award for her stunning reflex save in the final minute of the match against England, a play that secured India’s qualification from the pool stage and helped the team achieve its best finish in 52 years, a fifth‑place finish. Bichu received 52 percent of all votes, comfortably ahead of the other two nominees.
In the men’s category, Abdul Rehman claimed the award for his impressive 3‑D skills, during which he bypassed four defenders before finishing a smart goal against Wales. Rehman’s goal earned 44 percent of the votes, narrowly surpassing South African Kenton Melville’s audacious goal, which received 39 percent of the votes.
