Mushroom Cultivation Training in Pasighat Concludes

On Thursday, the Mushroom Development Centre in Pasighat concluded a series of training programmes in East Siang district, part of the Arunachal Pradesh Mushroom Development Mission for the 2025‑26 biennium. The workshops, which began on 27 July, aimed to promote mushroom cultivation and strengthen rural livelihoods.

Five separate sessions were held across different circles and subdivisions, reaching 200 participants. The curriculum focused on oyster mushroom cultivation, emphasizing its low production cost, ease of cultivation, strong market demand, and potential as a sustainable income‑generating enterprise.

The training incorporated hands‑on practical sessions and demonstration‑based learning. Participants received mushroom grow kits, enabling them to start cultivation at the household level immediately after the workshops.

Associate Professor Dr N Surmina Devi from the College of Agriculture’s Plant Pathology department led the technical sessions. The programmes were attended by officials from the Horticulture Department, including District Horticulture Officer Oyin Tayeng, Horticulture Development Officer Oyi Modi, Horticulture Marketing Officer Bini Tagom, and MDC HDO in‑charge Nuka Dai. Local ZPMs from Bogong‑I, Bogong‑II, Monggu Banggo‑I, Bosing‑I, and Bilat‑I also joined the events.
