An interactive mock parliament session and a civic awareness campaign were held Thursday at the Sainik School in NIGLOK, East Siang district, according to the Arunachal Times. The event aimed to nurture civic responsibility, leadership and democratic values among the cadets.
The programme, organised by the Itanagar‑based NGO Let’s Speak Arunachal under the leadership of founder Porsum Ori and secretary Tana Jiri, featured a mock parliament for students in classes 9 to 12. Participants received hands‑on exposure to parliamentary procedures, policy discussions, public speaking and constructive debate.
Simultaneously, an interactive session on fundamental rights and duties was conducted for students in classes 6 to 8. The session encouraged younger cadets to understand their constitutional responsibilities and to become responsible citizens from an early age.
Cadets displayed remarkable enthusiasm, confidence and a keen understanding of democratic principles, underscoring the importance of experiential learning in shaping future leaders. Certificates of appreciation were presented to participants for their outstanding participation and leadership. The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of Let’s Speak Arunachal and the Sainik School to empower youth, promote constitutional values and strengthen democratic awareness, especially among students in remote border regions.
